GMS ministers endorse key cooperation documents |

(Vientiane Times) Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) ministers have endorsed several important documents as a part of a plan for better cooperation in the sub-region in the future.
The agreements were reached at the 16th GMS Ministerial Meeting held in Hanoi last week after the GMS senior officials' meeting with development partners on August 19.

(Vientiane Times) The Minister for Water Resources and Environment has warned that water scarcity and competition for the resource is likely to increase due to the country’s continuing development.
Mrs Khempheng Pholsena was speaking at a sub-sector working group meeting on water resources and the environment in Vientiane yesterday which was also attended by development partners of Laos.

(VientianeTimes) A scheme to regulate the Nam Theun and Nam Kading river basin in Borikhamxay and Savannakhet provinces is the first of its kind to be introduced in Laos.
The initiative, called the Nam Theun-Kading River Basin Management Project, aims to monitor the quantity and quality of water in the basin to ensure local communities are not affected by low water levels or floods.
